TSBME expert from Colorado Dr. Awad gets suspended from the University
To: Faculty in the Department of Neurosurgery
From: Janette Durham, President of the Medical Staff
Date: November 23, 2002
Dr. Awad was paid $1,000/hr by the TSBME for accusing me of improperly treating patient EF.
His testimony contradicted the other two TSBME experts.
Dr. Awad also purjured himself when during his deposition, he stated that he was not under any investigations. The following month November 2002, the University of Colorado suspended his privileges at the Univ. and his chirmanship in Neurosurgery.
In January, a committee of outside experts recommended that his position at the Univ. of Colorado be "REVOKED".
He is now somewhere in Chicago.
Re: Suspension of Dr. Awad's clinical privileges at UCH
Dr. Awad’s clinical privileges at UCH were suspended effective November 21, 2002.
We need the faculty members in the Department of Neurosurgery to provide the necessary coverage to ensure that this process does not disrupt patient care at the hospital. Please feel free to contact me with any of your concerns.
Sincerely,
Janette Durham, MD
